Chants of a Quaint Mind

There was a time when Facebook used to be our escape from the stressful life. We would find comfort, warmth and confidentiality among the few friends we had on our list. The two to three Youtube videos we shared of our favorite non-pop unheard-of music videos were celebrated and discussed by many friends. We didn’t need any filter to prove ourselves presentable here. A bit of blur was just fine.

Where has that intimacy gone? Now, with 2.2 billion active users every month, it is hard to make your voice be truly heard on Facebook. It might get drowned among millions of pages, billions of users and thousands of hashtags. No matter what level of urgency your post or content has, it might get swept over by bigger names and bigger brands.

It is completely crazy out there now. For any normal human being, the real world has become the escape from the overcrowded online world. How the tables have turned! As major companies and millennials move on to the lucrative Facebook world, the previous low-key fanbase is moving away and making their transitions to the real world.

Now, most of us “archaic” Facebook addicts have either graduated or are already committed to a full-fledged job. The peace and joy we once felt on this platform, are now overtaken by its hype and noise. Our most beloved social networking site is now a hub for widespread media and advertising campaigns. It is one of the central points for commercial ascent of companies.

While that is great news for the young entrepreneurs and small enterprises, I miss it sorely. I miss the nostalgic serene world of Facebook, where lone creative minds huddled together in search of new dreams and harmony.
